Mold Flow Analysis: Flow Front Pressure
The ideal filling pattern has the melt reaching every extremity of the cavity
simultaneously, with constant melt-front velocity throughout the process. Otherwise,
local over-packing may arise within the part.
Traditionally, to analyze filling patterns,
one would have to take a series of short shots on the production floor. This involved
running a prototype or actual production mold. Now, the designer can visualize the fill
patterns when the design is in the conceptual stage.
The flow front temperature result
uses a range of colors to indicate the region of lowest temperature (colored blue)
through the highest temperature region (colored red).
